Shibori originated in Japan and is a manual resist dyeing technique. The technique of Shibori dyeing allows you to create free-form patterns or structured lines, stripes, circles etc. No longer is it just rubber bands and string!
This form of dyeing differs from the typical tie dye process with the use of resist materials including shapes made from perspex, wood, rocks, coins and the list goes on. The use of plumbers poly pipe where your fabric is wrapped a certain way or perhaps designs stitched in prior to dipping your creations in a vat of Indigo is just a couple of the available options.
You don’t need any artistic skill or prior knowledge of fabrics or dyeing…it’s a learned technique and more importantly an awesome day of fun and creativity.
